…and just punch the clock

It should always rain like this on New Year’s Day, cold and thick and constant. Everything gets drenched, but in a way that feels refreshing. It’s a rain for a new start, washing everything away and leaving a clean slate behind.

New Year’s Day should be a day for looking forward, but I can’t help but spend it looking back on the year just gone. And it’s been a good year! Lots of big things happened – I graduated, moved to Manchester, started a PhD – but it’s the smaller things that stick out as being the most memorable. The long and glorious summer; the fantastic days in Sheffield (I thought they would never end); what’s turned out to be the best autumn in a long time… they’ve all been brilliant. I’m pretty happy right now, and 2011 is full of promise. Let’s go for it!
